Alexander the Great Sarcophagus

Detail from the Alexander the Great Sarcophagus Large Plaque. This plaque is a section-detail from the one of the four panels of the Alexander Sarcophagus, the battle scene showing Macedonians and Persians fighting each other. It shows Alexander the Great on horse wearing his lion's scalp (the first figure) bringing down a Persian cavalryman, while next to them another Macedonian is facing a Persian infantryman. This section plaque includes only these four figures and is for the first time offered to the modern collector of ancient art. Weight about 80 Lbs. Dimensions W: 30" H: 22" D: 5.5"
