Relief of a Roman Centurion - Tombstone of Marcus Caelius killed in Germany (1st Century AD). Marcus Caelius was a centurion of the Legio XVIII Augusta. This well-known tombstone in Castra Vetera Xanten is evidence of the death of a Roman soldier Marcus Caelius in the Varus battle in 9 AD.
